Flow On The Edge
2024, Art Installation/Spatial/Key Visual
"Flow on the Edge" is a brand exhibition created for THELí’s entry into "Design Republic • Design Commune." The exhibition unfolds around the material properties of natural elements—stone and wood—showcasing THELí’s explorations and experiments with the concept of "the edge," corresponding to the application contexts of the brand’s two materials: LiME WASH and LiNSEE DYE. The works, visual design, and spatial design were all fully presented by 4aC Design, expressing how materials trigger spontaneous encounters and reflections between personal life and public spaces.
「flow on the edge 。
I Quarrying - Flow.01 is an ongoing initiative about daily walks in cities. We see the touch between feet and the ground as paint slowly moving on stone, touching the flow of each stone surface. In this initiative, we prefer walking on the edges of urban roads. At crevices of sidewalks, ruts between weeds and tiles, and corners of construction sites, we pick up bricks, debris, and broken concrete randomly, and finally reach the surface of each stone. We just want to be companions of roads or become roads ourselves. Following the pulse of roads, we walk, collect, and flow. We are quarriers who admire and move each broken stone we encounter in corners of cities.
I Reading - Flow.02 is a collection about reading records of wood grain. When we have a plank in front of us, we give the say to the material itself. In the light of the growing laws of "the wood," we read the growing pattern of this piece of plant via lines and turns of grains and transitions of its morphology. Each patch of colour on wood is a mark captured randomly. We know grains are meaningless, but it is these meaningless sketches that lead us through from beginning to end.
