How to express love is a contemporary question shared by every era. In this project, we drew inspiration from the red seal frames found on ancient Chinese envelopes, using them as boundaries to contain textual information. Within this interplay of constraint and release, the typography conveys both the anticipation of being “opened by the recipient” and the emotions that seem to leap off the page.
The exhibition brings together reflections and visual interpretations of “love” from over 200 designers worldwide. As there is no single linear narrative connecting the works, we extracted three levels of information from the texts—“words,” “paragraphs,” and “stories”—and used them as the organizing structure for the exhibition route. In this way, designers’ interpretations of love unfold before the audience gradually, taking the forms of “points,” “lines,” and “planes.”
