At the beginning of 2024, we collaborated with THELí to launch this New Year gift, specially presented to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The well-known idiom “Ye Gong Loves Dragons” portrays a character whose image is strikingly different from the historical Ye Gong. In the legend, Ye Gong appears hypocritical and timid, whereas the real Ye Gong was a respected figure renowned for his achievements in water management. His “love for dragons” symbolized a wish for stability and security, and he is even credited with originating the term “water faucet,” which remains in use today.
What fascinates us is how, over more than two millennia of retelling, historical truth has gradually evolved into fictionalized narratives—and how, amid ever-changing stories and environments, an individual can maintain the “Ye Gong” spirit: continuously questioning, continuously authentic, and true to oneself.
2024年初，我们与 THELí 合作推出了这款新年礼，为庆祝新春特别呈现。“叶公好龙”作为家喻户晓的成语，其故事中的人物形象与历史记载中的叶公却大相径庭。传说中的叶公虚伪怯懦，而真实的叶公却是因治水而受尊敬的正面人物。“好龙”的行为背后，是对家园安定的祈愿；而他首创的“水龙头”一词，也沿用至今。
我们更感兴趣的是，在两千多年的口耳相传中，历史真实如何逐渐演变为虚构真实；以及在不断变化的叙事与环境之中，个体如何保持“好龙”的姿态——持续发问，持续真实。
